We in the West tend to use time, money, or attention span to bound our decision process, to help us narrow our universe. Haiku is another means to get focussed. Try thinking of your next big decision in terms of three lines containing 17 syllables, in the pattern of 5-7-5 syllables. A Nobel Prize winner's first attempt at haiku:
opened the door
to memory and meaning
